bush-care volunteers are needed!

If you would like support to start a project in your area, we can help with rat traps, possum traps, skills, workshops, safe removal of weeds... all together we can bring back the birds.

1. Register your own project

Register now, enter a little background information about your project, mark out the area and you're done.

2. Project plan

You'll receive information, guides and a meeting will be arranged to discuss your project along with planning required tools, volunteers, etc.

3. confirmation

In the meeting you'll be able to confirm to proceed with the project. The data you'll produce within your project are simply recorded on the provided report sheets. After each project day, you'll send the daily report to the supervisor. Once the project is finished, you'll receive a confirmation certificate acknowledging your contribution to New Zealand's environment.

Our volunteer activities span a range of fitness levels. We'll list specific fitness requirements when we advertise a project. The following is a general guide for you to indicate your preferred level of activity: Low - I can easily walk up to 2 hours over flat ground. Medium - I can comfortably walk with a 5kg pack up to 4 hours over uneven ground. High - I am capable of walking with a 10kg pack up to 6 hours over uneven ground. Very high - I am experienced at walking consecutive days with a 10+kg pack over steep, rough terrain.
